Bringing the Color, Competition, and Community: The Color Games at Anne Grady Services
Every year, one of the most anticipated events at Anne Grady Services brings together individuals, staff, and supporters from across our locations for a day unlike any other: The Color Games.
Filled with spirited competition, colorful team pride, laughter, and unforgettable moments, the Color Games are much more than a series of activities. They are a celebration of friendship, community, and the vibrant lives of the individuals we support.
As teams proudly represent their locations and colors, the energy is contagious. Friendly rivalries emerge as participants compete in a variety of games and challenges, cheering one another on and celebrating both victories and efforts. Whether someone is racing toward the finish line, participating in a team challenge, or encouraging their friends from the sidelines, everyone has an opportunity to be part of the excitement.
But beyond the fun and competition, events like the Color Games play an important role in supporting social wellness and quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Meaningful social connections are essential for everyone. The opportunity to build friendships, connect with peers from other locations, and participate in shared experiences helps foster confidence, belonging, and community engagement. For many individuals, the Color Games create opportunities to meet new people, strengthen existing relationships, and experience the joy that comes from being part of something bigger than themselves.
These experiences also promote self-expression and personal growth. Participants are encouraged to try new activities, work together as a team, and celebrate their unique strengths. The sense of accomplishment that comes from participating, whether through competition, teamwork, or simply stepping outside of one’s comfort zone, can have lasting positive impacts on self-esteem and independence.
At Anne Grady Services, we believe that living a full life means more than receiving services. It means having opportunities to connect, contribute, laugh, compete, celebrate, and create memories alongside friends and community members. Events like the Color Games embody that belief by creating spaces where individuals can experience joy, inclusion, and genuine belonging.
As the cheers fade and another year of Color Games comes to a close, what remains are the friendships strengthened, the memories created, and the excitement already building for next year. Because at the heart of the Color Games isn’t simply who wins or loses, it’s the connections made, the confidence gained, and the reminder that everyone deserves opportunities to live a life filled with purpose, friendship, and fun.
Here’s to another incredible Color Games and the colorful community that makes it all possible.
